Lord Carter, the Communications Minister credited for compiling the Digital Britain report, may be on his way out. He was instrumental in working out the strategy to improve the UK’s communications and technology infrastructure, but seems to have other plans for himself.

According to a report that appeared in The Times newspaper, Lord Carter intends on leaving the government to work in the private sector, with some suggesting that this might happen even before the final report of Digital Britain is published.

Lord Carter has been credited with firming up the UK’s broadband infrastructure and transforming the media industry (click for info on the latest gaming broadband). However, Carter has conveyed that he will continue in his present appointment until after the publication of the Digital Britain report and has denied suggestions that he plans to take up another job outside the government.

Speaking to The Times, he assured that his only pressing sole agenda was the finalising of the Digital Britain report. However, people are concerned that the main architect of the report may not be available to answer the queries or criticisms which it is likely to raise.

Lord Carter is expected to release his much awaited report by next Tuesday to reveal the steps that need to be taken to extend access to broadband internet service and to tackle online piracy. The Times, however, has hinted that he may have a job waiting for him in Brussels or may possibly become the head of ITV.
